TI’s 2020 CPI Lowers U.S. Ranking and Links Corruption to Healthcare Spend

Transparency International (TI) has released its 2020 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), a tool many companies use in their anti-corruption compliance programs. Many countries, including the United States, are not doing particularly well in combatting perceived public corruption – a perhaps unsurprising conclusion given the events of the past year. Indeed, TI found that corruption associated with COVID-19 responses had a significant impact on perceptions of corruption across the globe. We discussed the findings in the CPI’s accompanying report with white collar investigations experts to illuminate the key takeaways for companies.
