2021 Year in Review: A Slow Year but a Full Pipeline

As the COVID-19 pandemic continued to pulse around the globe, 2021 was a quiet year on the anti-corruption enforcement front. The new U.S. presidential administration has said much about the importance of fighting corruption, but U.S. authorities only reached a small handful of FCPA-related corporate resolutions, a notable decline from recent years. However, at ACI’s 38th International Conference on the FCPA, U.S. officials assured the audience that they have the new administration’s full support and that the pipeline of cases is full. We attended the conference and spoke with members of the defense bar to get a sense of where we have been and where we are going.
